Not many Madrileñas chose to run on the streets, but they are missing out! I have found some incredible green spaces and monuments I would never have otherwise come across.

My new favorite place to run! This park is right across from el Instituto de Salud Carlos III where I am interning. I had thought about exploring what looked from the street like a dirt walking path, but it was always too late at night to go wondering by myself. I happened to meet a Madrile... [Ampliar]

Antiguo Hospital de Jornaleros (Hospital de Maudes)
I always pass by this and have only just discovered what it is. It was an old hospital, consturcted by Antonio Palacios. I believe it is also now a church, as well as a government headquarters for two of Madrid's councils.

It is really beautiful and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a real workout, since it is quite hilly. What I love the most about this park is how the paths seem to wind on endlessly, branching into numerous other paths which can take you up or down the hillside. It is actually rather small in size but appears to stretch on forever, and gives you this feeling that you are... [Ampliar]

I cound't pass up the opportunity to see Madrid in the same way I've loved touring New York, and so I have been street running. I've been able to see el Viso in a very different light in this way. For example, near the Centro Commercial there is this small park. I often see businessmen and women walking through here on their way to and from work. To the left of this is an overpass underwhich you need to walk to cross from the park to the nearby restaurants and stores. The pathway is not at all manicured like the rest of the area. The bad smell, piles of broken glass, and overall lack of light make it unpleasant, however it does house some interesting street art (see the Street art section for a picture).
